U.R.G.E.N.T Garfield is an independent non-profit advocacy watchdog organization created to act, serve and protect the rights and civil liberties of Garfield residents. Our mission is to promote fairness, seek justice, increase citizen participation, be a representative, a defender and a voice of the community. As justice seekers, our aim is to protect the community against illegal inefficiencies for the purpose of building a strong loving community enriched in integrity. Integrity defines a community and it starts from the top-down. We believe in the American foundational principle, government is "We the People". We also believe in restoring the Great City of Garfield back to its "champion" status. We demand a fair and level field for all. U.R.G.E.N.T Garfield believes it’s time for this community to shine and as we meet our goals we have no doubt Garfield will be a leader to surrounding boros, towns and cities in the state of New Jersey.

We The People

Now is the time! We the people of Garfield have to get more involved in the governing of our city. There are about 25 people who run this whole city and those 25 people are strategically placed on a variety of city boards. Some are on multiple boards. In the present election there are candidates leaving one post to occupy another. Two candidates still have a year left to serve. They're running from pillar to post to sieze more power. We're seeking to have more residents who have not had the opportunity to serve placed on non-electoral boards, like the Housing Authority. The way things are represents a case of a few exploiting the many. We, the residents of Garfield, have to step up to the plate and change what has become a "system of domination". This has been going on too long. Garfield needs a new vision.
